Duke of Wellington Autograph Letter Signed on Territorial Disputes Arising From the Fall of the Napoleonic Empire ALS in French, signed “Wellington,” three pages on two adjoining sheets, 7.25 x 9.5, September 15, 1816. Untranslated handwritten letter from the Duke of Wellington, concerning the difficulties linked to the occupation of territories formerly under the dominion of Napoleon, which had come under the control of the occupying troops of the Seventh Coalition. In fine condition, with an old, thin mounting strip along the left edge. A desirable letter from the British commander dating to a significant chapter of European history.

This history of the regions formed on the ancient Roman Gaul of Belgium, from Lorraine to the Netherlands, begins with the siege of Nancy in 1477 and ends in 1668 with the Peace of Aix-la-Chapelle, which established French gains over the Spanish Netherlands.
