Carved fruitwood panel depicting Adam and Eve driven from Paradise. 17th century Height: 12.7 cm - Width: 15 cm Label on back This old boxwood must have been brought back from Spain around 1835 by the Marquis de Beauvoir's maternal grandfather, the Marquis de Rumigny, who was ambassador. The Marquis rescued it in July 1918 from Château Rumigny, near Hangard (Somme). In February 1930, the Marquis de Beauvoir gave it to Paul-Louis Hervier to celebrate the founding of the EVE newspaper.
