Round polychrome painted enamel plaque depicting Saint Jerome in the desert; lumpy dark red counter-enamel. The saintly hermit is shown kneeling, a stone in his right hand beating his chest as a symbol of his penitence; the tamed lion lies at his side and the cardinal's hat lies on the ground behind him. Limoges, attributed to Pseudo-Monvaerni, late 15th century Diameter: 13.5 cm In a molded and gilded brass frame (cracks, slight erosion) Provenance: former Wigerma collection, Utrecht.
