Campanian Olpe of the Gnathia ware. 4th century BC H 19.5 cm, ø body 8.7 cm. Shiny earthenware with incisions and painting in red, yellow and white. Egg stick, drops and ivy tendrils on the neck, garland on the body. Very rare vase shape! For a similar jug combining a lekythos body and a jug neck with a flat, profiled mouth, see for example the jug National Archaeological Museum Naples 80854: Corpus Vasorum Antiquorum 3 Pl. 65, 3; Beazley Archive Pottery Database 9003965. Tiny chips to the paint, otherwise intact. Provenance: ex Gorny & Mosch auction 300, Munich 2023, lot 30; ex collection P. Treffz-Eichhöfer, Stuttgart, collected in the 1980s to 1990s.

A FAMILLE ROSE 'SCHOLARS' VASE, SHENDETANG ZHI MARK, REPUBLIC PERIOD

A small collection of Thai and Chinese ceramics, 15th - 20h century Seven objects made of glazed ceramics of Asian origin. Including an early Thai Sawankhalok lidded jar, probably from the 15th/16th century (lid not belonging and restored), a small brown-glazed vessel, a deep (repaired) bowl with blue underglaze painting and a small cream-colored bowl with beautiful craquellée, each probably from the same cultural area. In addition, two probably Chinese pots, glazed white and yellow respectively (glaze defects, small flaws on the yellow pot). Also a large, expansive bowl on a high stand ring with green leaf decoration and finely fluted walls (Vietnamese(?), the rim slightly chipped). Diameter 12 - 31 cm, height 6.5 - 14 cm. Condition: II - III
