A FINE INLAID RED-LACQUER CABINET, POSSIBLY RYUKYU ISLANDS A FINE INLAID RED-LACQUER CABINET, POSSIBLY RYUKYU ISLANDS Japan, Possibly Ryukyu Islands, 19 th century The rectangular cabinet supported on a raised base with a subtle apron, the top with three railings, and the front with a central detachable door above a single drawer, the interior with a single shelf. The door worked in mitsuda (pewter), red, and green-lacquer takamaki-e with pale horn inlays and gold hiramaki-e, depicting a basket filled with pomegranates, persimmons, and a branch bearing donguri (acorns). The sides and edges decorated in gold hiramaki-e with mother-of-pearl inlays depicting stylized flowers and scrolling vines. SIZE 48.7 x 45.5 x 28.7 cm Condition: Very good condition with minor wear.
