Description

Auclair/Celui-là. Original plate #46 from the T2 album "Celui qui achève" illustrating an unexpected encounter. Fine execution of this XL plate in 7 large panels, one of the last to be produced before the artist's death... India ink circa 1990. Rare. TBE+. 57 X 42 cm After studying Fine Arts, Claude Auclair (1943-1990) became a theater decorator and illustrated science-fiction magazines before working for the newspaper Pilote, where he drew news pages in 1970, before creating Jason Muller (based on a script by Christin and Gir!). At the same time, he drew "La saga du Grizzli" and "Les naufragés d'Arroyoka" for Tintin. The editors of "Pilote" put an end to "Jason Muller" before the second album, so he left the paper and continued his collaboration with "Tintin", for which he created the very ecological "Simon du Fleuve", inspired by Giono's "Le chant du Monde", whose heirs forbade its publication as an album, accusing the author of plagiarism. The other albums were normally published by Lombard until 1989. In 1978, he appeared in the first issue of (A Suivre). In this monthly, he created much more committed stories, lyrically defending oppressed minorities. In this vein, we find the superb "Bran Ruz" and "Le Sang du Flamboyant". He began work on "Celui-là", but died before he could finish it. His friends Mézières and Tardi completed the last 6 plates of "Celui qui achève" for him, as a posthumous tribute.
