Description

Legein/WW2 Airborne. Original album cover illustrating American paratroopers. Plume signed circa 2017. Beautiful quality of execution. TBE+. 25 X 35 cm + Album containing an original drawing. Watercolor and graphite. Signed. TBE+. 15 X 21 cm Born in Brussels in 1963, I spent my early childhood in Canada and the Netherlands. At 18, I began studying medicine, while taking my first drawing lessons with Didier Desmidt (Mr Wen, sets and colors for Tibet). I tried my hand at journalism at university for two years before abandoning classical studies altogether to devote myself to drawing. For three years, I attend Eddy Paape's evening classes at the Académie de Saint Gilles, where I meet Crisse (l'Epée de Cristal, Nahomie, etc.), who advises me for a long time and puts me in touch with the world of advertising (storyboards, posters, etc.). Along the way, I meet Mitacq, who advises me before asking me to collaborate on his "Patrouille des Castors" albums (vehicles in "Torrent sur Mesin"). A project at Lombard takes shape and six plates are published in "Hello BD". At Lombard, I take advantage of Bob de Moor's advice. Crisse put me in touch with Yves Swolfs, who proposed a revival of "Dampierre" in 1994. The project was accepted by Glénat, and Volume 4 was published in 1994 (winning the BD Strip 94 prize in Durbuy for Best First Album). The "Dampierre" series continued until the release of volume 9, with Yves Swolfs on the script. With volume 9, the cycle initially pitting Julien and Ariane against the Marquise and Grignard comes to an end. For volume 10, Yves Swolfs retires and I take over the script for an adventure set near Brussels. Then it's on to more recent adventures (2021) with the bestseller "Le lit d'Aliénor", in collaboration with Mireille Calmel.
