Mazel/Original humorous drawing for Haromex spirits company postcards. Beautifully executed. India ink dating from the 90s. CP included. TBE+. 33 X 22cm Luc Maezelle aka Mazel (1936), studied at the Institut Saint Luc, practiced architecture for five years and then turned to comics. After a Belle Histoire de l'Oncle Paul published in Spirou, he joined the weekly Tintin. In 1961, he drew a few full-length stories, followed by L'Affaire Tarentule, his first story to follow. In 1962-63, he worked at the Belvision animation studios, then undertook a few short stories for Pilote, under the Zem byline. From 1964 to 1966, again for Tintin, he created Bôjolet et Riesling, a series followed from 1966 to 1968 by Fleurdelys, scripted by Vicq. In 1969, he teamed up with Raoul Cauvin for the weekly Spirou, and began Câline et Calebasse, which ran until 1977. At the same time, he worked at Studio Greg and took part in the Les As series published in Pif Gadget. For the same magazine, in collaboration with Dédé, he produced Chacal Bill, a humorous western that he signed under the name Mavericq. Returning to Spirou, he created Boulouloum et Guiliguili in 1975; this series, scripted by Raoul Cauvin, was later renamed Les Jungles Perdues. From 1981 to 83, he hosted Jessie Jane, based on a text by Frydman. In 1989, this time on his own texts, he revived Câline et Calebasse under the new title Les Mousquetaires. Between 1996 and 2004, he and Cauvin produced Paparazzi.
