BÉRAUD [Henri] - "They didn't have any planes". Complete autograph manuscript by Henri BÉRAUD of the article published in the weekly GRINGOIRE dated December 12, 1940. It comprises 36 leaves (recto only) written in pencil, all folioed and mitered. Half cloth bradel binding (27.8x21.7cm). Smooth spine, leather title page. Attached are two typescripts (16pp and 16pp) of this manuscript, one with autograph corrections by the author, the original article and an envelope containing 9 autograph sheets of notes (recto only) in various formats. This article relates the disappearance of Jean CHIAPPE, then appointed by Marshal Pétain as French High Commissioner to the Levant, whose plane was machine-gunned over the Mediterranean on Number 27, 1940.
