Contemporary full morocco binding. Spine decorated with gilt fleurons. Quintuple cold-stamped fillet on covers. Framed gilt lace on back covers. First plate decorated with the author's initials. These nicely calligraphed, handwritten pages evoke the artistic life of the period, and in particular musicians and writers such as Antoine BESSEMS, Antoine OTTAVI, Prosper MÉRIMÉE, Adrien-François SERVAIS, Jules DEJAZET, André GRÉTRY... Jules LARDIN, critic, patron and impresario, was one of the most prominent figures in the artistic world of the first half of the 19th century. Very good condition, some rubbing to binding.
