Five Dutch Milk Guards (Melkwacht)

Note: The milk guard worked like a percolator. It stood on three short legs in the pot of milk. As soon as the milk at the bottom began to boil, the milk rose through the funnel and flowed back into the pot through the open top. This way, the milk did not boil over. Without a milk watcher, the housewife had to keep a close eye on the milk to prevent it from suddenly boiling over and burning onto the stove.
