An Edwardian silver sugar caster. Henry Matthews, Birmingham, 1901. The body of octagonal cornucopia form with zoomorphic terminal and zoomorphic scrolling handle, 14.cm high. The caster together with a group of silver and white metal items, including: a Continental pedestal twin-handled silver sugar dish, indistinctly marked to foot, the body pierced and decorated with grape vines, ram heads and medallions with Bacchanalian heads, raised on a stepped oval base, with clear glass liner, 16cm wide (inc. handles); an Edwardian silver wine taster, London, 1903, Carrington & Co., with George II sixpence coin inset to base, 10.5cm wide (inc. handle); an Edwardian small silver dish, London, 1902, The Alexander Clark Manufacturing Co., of circular form with scalloped rim, 14.7cm dia.; an Edwardian silver bonbon dish, Birmingham, 1901, Synyer & Beddoes, the body of oval form with shaped scroll border and pierced sides, 10.7cm wide; two white metal bonbon dishes, of shaped octagonal form, with shell and foliate scroll border, the sides pierced and repousse decorated with fruits, 11cm wide; a silver mounted glass plaque and a further silver item, total weighable silver approx. 20.3ozt (a lot)
