Alfred Franck de PRADES. (Lunel 1825- London 1885). Horse portrait of a racehorse (unidentified) ridden by a jockey. 65 x 81 cm. Frowned edges and minor restorations. Equestrian and military subjects made Alfred Frank de Prades a success in England, where he settled at an early age. His portrait of the thoroughbred "Fairplay", which won the Household brigade cup, was bought by its owner, King Edward VII himself. As such, it is now in the Royal Collection Trust, London.

Artist info: French painter (born in Cherbourg/Normandie), studied German in Nuremberg and Heidelberg, then at the Academy of Fine Arts Nuremberg, moved to Berlin in the late 1970s, where she further developed her expressionist style, travelling to Italy, Turkey and Greece, moved to San Diego in 1986, where she opened her Jacqueline Lavenu Studio & Gallery, represented in private collections in Germany, Great Britain, Switzerland, France and the United States of America, source: Website of the artist.
