Alexander the Great's Battle of the Granic (334 BC) The crossing of the Granic was the first confrontation between Macedonian and Persian armies, and took place on the banks of the Granic River in Turkey. Alexander the Great, shown in the left foreground on his horse Bucephalus, wins the victory over the Persian Satraps, opening the gates to Asia. Border with war attributes including breastplates, cannons, swords, trumpets, pennants, surrounded by fruit baskets and flower arrangements. In wool and silk. After a cartoon by Charles Le Brun (1619 - 1690) and Gérard Audran (1640-1703) Late 17th century, Creuse region, near Aubusson. Height: 260 cm - Width: 350 cm approx.
