MASSUE KANAK À TÊTE D'OISEAU

The long cylindrical handle ends in a stylized bird's head with an elongated beak, raised eyes and a crest falling to the back of the neck. New Caledonia. Kanak people, 19th century. Length: 73 cm - Head length: 28 cm (Small accidents) PROVENANCE - Collected between 1866 and 1876 by Gustave Napoléon Gouère (1847 - 1920), a naval infantry officer. - It has remained in his family to this day.
