Height Height : 14 cm The Robj company was founded in 1908 by Jean Born, and remained in business until 1931. Starting out as a manufacturer of small objects, in particular gibelots, it expanded in 1922 under the management of Lucien Willemetz to become the company famous today for its colorful porcelain figurines for everyday household use. These include flasks, bottles and tobacco jars. By creating utilitarian art objects, often anthropomorphic and sometimes zoomorphic, the company contributed during the 30s to making art more accessible to the general public, while approaching the Cubism movement through the style of its representations of figures, which are characterized by their polychromy, non-naturalistic bodies and inspirations from the art of the African continent.
