SLOPED DESK by Pierre IV MIGEON (1696-1758) stamped BVRB, Bernard II VAN RIESEN BURGH (1696-1767) curved on three sides. It is decorated on all sides with fern-veneered violet wood veneer, and features a cross-wood marquetry interspersed with crooked wood on the flap. It opens with a flap concealing a satinwood veneered pedestal and opening with four drawers and a double bottom in the central section. It has two drawers in the front waistband and rests on a curved base. Stamped on the back crossbar by BVRB (Bernard II Van Riesen Burgh was received as Master in Paris around 1730) and two sworn marks. The stamp on the cabinet is perfectly correct and corresponds to his workshop. Parisian work of the Louis XV period. Height : 91 cm. Depth : 43 cm. Width : 82 cm. Nota bene : Peeling and missing veneer. Later entrance and sabots. Mr. Yannick Bapt, historian of the cabinetmaker BVRB, brings us this mention for which we thank him warmly: We know that Pierre IV Migeon (1696-1758), probably a master around 1721, subcontracted to BVRB. They collaborated on the production of sloping secretaries. This piece of furniture was therefore subcontracted by Migeon. He adds by e-mail dated May 29, 2024: "With your permission, I will publish your secretary in my book as a Migeon, with a BVRB stamp. It's a fine secretary, and the presence of a BVRB stamp reinforces the idea of possible links between the two cabinetmakers, which is interesting and singular".
