*GUERIDON In patinated bronze, the uprights form chimeras on claw feet. The black granite top is engraved with palmettes, the center in scagliola in imitation of malachite decorated with a bacchanalian scene. Late 19th century. H : 78.5 cm ; Diam : 74 cm. (sold as is, accidents, missing parts). This pedestal table is to be compared with a work by the bronzemaker Ferdinand Barbedienne presented at the Exposition Universelle of 1889, based on a design by Ferdinand Levillain, himself inspired by a tripod discovered in Pompeii, preserved in the Archaeological Museum of Naples.
