AQUAMANILE In patinated bronze, in the shape of a lion, the tail forming a grip. The head opens with a lid at the top. Nineteenth-century work in the late 14th/early 15th century style. 34.5 x 29 cm Accents, wear. Note. The present aquamanile was cast after a model from Lower Saxony from the late 14th or early 15th century. A similar example is in the Bayerisches Nationalmuseum (inv. no. 2494). Bibliography.
