Many Benner was a pupil and friend of Jean-Jacques Henner, then curator of the Henner Museum in Paris. He was also a pupil of Lefebvre and Benjamin Constant. Twice runner-up in the Grand Prix de Rome, he exhibited in Strasbourg, Mulhouse and Paris. This was one of the artist's favorite models for many years, and he left us numerous paintings of this young woman.
