Schloss Gottorf, Stiftung und Besitz. Janssen studied under Prof. Mahlau at the Kunsthochschule in Hamburg from 1946-51. He received several prizes for his graphic work, including the Art Prize of the City of Darmstadt in 1964. His work has been exhibited internationally, and the Horst Janssen Museum in Oldenburg was opened in November 2000.
