Pascal DAGNAN-BOUVERET (Paris 1852-1929 Quincey) Study for a little girl, full-length in profile, blonde, in a white dress Oil on cardboard 23.5 x 14 cm (view) Signed lower right Our small sketch is a preparatory study for a child's figure included in the painting "Le retour du troupeau (Franche-Comté)" (79 x 130 cm, Bonham's London sale, October 28, 2009, lot 75, current location unknown), which was exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français in 1924 (no. 533), and in which, after a production of worldly portraits and religious paintings, the artist returned to his primary interest in realistic scenes of rural life. Provenance: - According to family tradition, given by the artist to friends, Mr. and Mrs. Robert de Greff, in the early 20th century, - Then by descent and inheritance to the present day.
