Size: 69.5 x 46cm NOTE: Liu Jiyu, influenced by his father Liu Kuilin from an early age, had a deep passion for painting. In 1936, he enrolled in the Western Painting Department of the Tianjin Municipal Art Museum to study. A native of Tianjin, Liu Jiyu was an outstanding Chinese painter and a master of comic art. He is renowned as a pioneer in animal and figure painting in the history of modern and contemporary Chinese art. Liu Jiyu was one of the few modern Chinese painters adept at meticulous realistic painting, heavy coloration, small-scale freehand style, and large-scale freehand styles. His subjects were diverse, ranging from figures and animals to flowers and birds, as well as landscapes. His achievements in meticulous figure painting and expressive animal painting were particularly outstanding.
