GABRIEL DAVIOUD (1823-1881)

PUBLIC PARK DISPLAY PANEL, PARIS Green-painted cast iron, the rectangular curved panel with rich openwork decoration of interlacing foliage and flowers, topped with the coat of arms of Paris, the shaft adorned with friezes of shells, water leaves and laurel branches, the baluster base. Napoleon III period. Height. 245 cm; Width. 64 cm; Depth. 36 cm. BIBLIOGRAPHY This type of panel was originally cast by the Capitain-Gény foundry, as can be seen in the Capitain-Gény Catalogue, model "D" reproduced. pl. 1155, section "Signposts and wall plaques".
