Metal advertising statuette, with polychrome remains, showing a richly dressed African holding a tobacco pipe. The base is inscribed "bijouterie". 19th century. Height. 5.2 cm; Width. 1.5 cm; Depth. 1.4 cm. This statuette reproduces the sign of a clock, jewelry and watchmaking boutique founded in 1797 and located at 19 boulevard Saint-Denis, now in the collections of the Musée Carnavalet. At the time, it was a clock model in vogue from 1810-1820, attributed to Thomire and depicting Toussaint Louverture.
