Six sketchbooks. 8 x 17 cm. Numbered: Vol. 2 to Vol. 7. 796 painted pages with several thousand pen and ink drawings and watercolor sketches. Volumes 3, 4, 6, and 7 with Art Nouveau ornaments. In volume 2 and partly in volume 5 sketches for architecture, furniture, chandeliers, crowns, weapons, iron grilles, railings, vessels, musical instruments, ex-libris, flowers, leaves and animals. All volumes with Pickford Waller bookplates and artist's monogram at the end, various individual sheets monogrammed. Marbled endpapers, all-round gilt edges, leather spine with gilt embossing. All volumes by the London bookbinder Joseph William Zaehnsdorf, son of Josef Zaehnsdorf. Volume IV slightly stained in places. - Waller, draughtsman, draftsman, illustrator, designer, art collector. Son of the master builder Robert John Waller. Worked on several books for the Pear Tree Press. Close friend of James Abbott McNeill Whistler.
