Aufenthalten in Hongkong, Manila, Singapur, Penhang, Sumatra, Colombo, Suezkanal, Port Said, Marseille, Barcelona, Mallorca, Southhampton, Rotterdam, Den Haag bis Bremerhaven. - Die "Scharnhorst" verblieb nach Kriegsausbruch in Japan und wurde dort zu einem Flugzeugträger umgebaut. - Mit einigen Photopostkarten sowie Fremdbildern garniert. - Hemdchen mit kl. Randläsuren, einige Aufnahmen entnommen, tls. etw. ausgesilbert, insgesamt jedoch sehr gut erhalten. Album with approx. 260 orig. photographs and photo postcards of a ship passage with the "Scharnhorst" from China to Germany. Mostly gelatin silver prints on photographic paper (Agfa Brovira and others). Inserted in cont. cloth album with cord binding. - From Shanghai with numerous stops in Hong Kong, Manila, Singapore, Penhang, Sumatra, Colombo, Suez Canal, Port Said, Marseille, Barcelona, Mallorca, Southhampton, Rotterdam, The Hague to Bremerhaven. - The "Scharnhorst" remained in Japan after the outbreak of war and was converted into an aircraft carrier there. - Garnished with a few photo postcards and foreign pictures. - Interleaves with small marginal tears, some photographs removed, some silvered, but overall in very well preserved condition. De Braekeleer" and each probably dated "1852", each with brand stamp "L.C. Artist info: actually Ferdinand Norbertus Adrianus De Braekeleer, also Adriaan or Adriaen, Belgian genre painter (1818 Antwerp to 1904 Antwerp-Borgerhout), initially trained and worked as a merchant, later turning to painting and pupil of his uncle Ferdinand de Braekeleer the Elder (1792-1883), influenced by the history painting of Hendrik Baron Leys (1815-1869), who, as the brother-in-law of his teacher Ferdinand de Braekeleer the Elder, worked in his studio for a time, organised various exhibitions in Antwerp, Nijmegen, Rotterdam, The Hague and Ghent, active in Antwerp, source: Thieme-Becker, Bénézit, Müller-Singer, Wurzbach, Müller-Klunzinger, Boetticher, Seubert as well as French. and Dutch Wikipedia.
