French school; 19th century. "Cherubs. Terracotta. Signed in the right inferior zone. Measurements: 40 x 60 x 19 cm. Sculptural group starring three child angels who are on a swell and carry attributes with a marine theme, such as the net and a raft. The three faces are directly inspired by the models of the classical "putto", a child with regular features, broad forehead, small nose, large cheeks and wavy hair. Stylistically, it is possible to appreciate both an intention on the part of the artist to show a naturalistic anatomy and to maintain the idealisation that corresponds to these religious figures, with their fine features.
