Monogrammist HS (16th-17th century). Avolat aeripes, falx demetit et cavet anguis. Res age prudenter, fugit et secat omnia tempus. Above a landscape with settlements, an elderly man sits on a winged stag, holding a snake in his left hand. In the oval the title in the ob. In the upper corners allegories of justice and faith, in the lower 2 cherubs. (Book) woodcut on laid paper, 17th century. Pl. 14.4 x 12.5 cm. With the monogr. in the lower left corner. With narrow margin around the image. - This is the printer's mark of ╔Jakob Fischer╗ u. Erben, Ffm. - Slightly burnt, right tidemark. R
