Bernhard Eyb, Poplars in Summer Landscape Effectively piled up storm clouds over a gently moving landscape with poplars on the horizon, in the light of the late summer sun, the Anthroposophical Society - Paracelsus Branch Basel writes "... Bernhard Eyb, ... became acquainted with the first Goetheanum at the beginning of his career as a portraitist and saw Rudolf Steiner painting the small dome [1921]. From that moment on, until his death in 1978 at the age of almost 90, his artistic work was dedicated to this new painting impulse of Rudolf Steiner. ...", thinly glazed landscape painting, probably watercolour on white primed canvas, signed and dated "B. Eyb 1937" lower left, label fragment "Dorotheum [Wien]" on the reverse, scratches, framed, folded dimensions approx. 51.5 x 70.5 cm. Artist information: Austrian painter and anthroposophist (1888 Pula/Croatia - 1978 Vienna), initially an officer's pupil, turned to theosophy from 1906 and to Rudolf Steiner's anthroposophy in 1911, studied at the Vienna Academy under Hans Tichy from 1919-25, later master student of Josef Jungwirth, from 1921 in contact with Rudolf Steiner, organised exhibitions in Klagenfurt, Brünn, Vienna and Graz from 1930-38, 1938 at the Goetheanum in Dornach near Basel, banned from painting in 1938, active in Vienna, source: Saur "Bio-Bibliographisches Künstlerlexikon", Fuchs and Info Dr. Wolfgang Saßmannshausen on the Internet.
