Artist info: German artist and garden designer (1934 Frankfurt a.M. until 2023 Bergisch Gladbach), was already supported at grammar school by drawing teacher Günther Ott, studied at the Hochschule für Gestaltung in Ulm, but left after one semester to study at the Staatliche Schule für Kunst und Handwerk in Saarbrücken under Otto Steinert, from 1956 as a freelance artist in Cologne, 1960 opened a studio in Cologne, which became very well known for musicians and artists and influenced the work of numerous artists through its intermedial ideas, She exhibited at numerous solo and group exhibitions, including international ones, lived and worked in New York for a time, but in the 1970s she moved the centre of her life back to Rösrath near Cologne, where she created a Gesamtkunstwerk in her house and garden, although she continued to spend time in New York on a regular basis. In the 1980s she created further gardens with her artworks as an overall composition and was a member of the Fluxus movement. [Russia - SCHLESSING (Goerg-Adam). The Ancient and Modern Religion of the Muscovites. Enrichie de Figures. Amsterdam, J. Louis de Lorme, 1698. In-12 of [1] f.-154 pp. Speckled brown basane, smooth ornate spine, red mar. title and date, triple fillet framing the boards (19th c. binding). Covers and spines slightly rubbed. Very rare edition, with the same date as the original by Pierre Marteau in Cologne. It is illustrated with a frontispiece and 6 plates, one of which is folding (cut and very slight red stains at the fold, but not missing) by Picart. Very rare work describing the Christianization of Kievan Russia, the dogmas of the Russian Orthodox Church and its religious customs and ceremonies, the veneration of saints by Western Russians, etc. The German historian Georg Adam Schleissing (or Schleusing), who visited Russia in 1684-1686, first published this text in German in 1694 ("Die auffgehende Sonne der christlichen Religion"), which met with immediate success and was followed by several translations. The first French translation saw the light of day shortly after Peter the Great's Great Embassy of 1697-1698, and the renewed interest aroused in Europe by a Russian Empire then in the throes of change. Description of the Metropolitan Church of the Archdiocese of Cologne, built in the 13th century to house the relics of the Magi. The shrine of the Magi (Dreikönigenschrein), made by Nicolas de Verdun around 1184, is the oldest reliquary in the Christian West. The illustration of this collection includes a title-frontispiece designed and engraved on copper by Charles Dupuis (1752-1807) and 12 beautiful engraved plates by the same artist, including 4 double folded plates. The author was the elector of the bishopric of Cologne. Copy in its red dominoté paper cover as issued (some minor wear). Curious and rare. Some brown spots.
