Tiboni in Milan: “…conosco abbastanza la differenza che passa da recite fisse a stagione, malgrado che questa possa essere più lunga di tempo, quindi desiderando io poter aver la fortuna di combinare questo affare per di lei mezzo, le invio le mi ultime definitive pretese che sono di Lire 300 per recita…”. 1 p. On an illustration by Lichtenstern & Harari, Addressed to Cesare Riccioni. Puccini inscribes: “Questa è la scala del palazzo del Pagno. Sto bene. Saluti tutti. Si accede alla cava di Lesso. Saluti a Pagni. Domani parto per Torre..”. Riccioni was husband of the dramatic soprano Solomija Krušel'nyc'ka (1872-1952), considered by Puccini “The most beautiful and charming Butterfly”. 1 p. - This item is under temporary import. OPERA - SPANI Hina (1890 - 1969) - Autograph letter signed Autograph letter signed, dated “Febbraio 5 ––“ by the Argentine soprano. Her real name was Higinia Tuñón. She made her operatic début at La Scala, Milan, in 1915, in the secondary rôle of Anna in Alfredo Catalani's “La Wally”. She sang regularly at La Scala and in all the leading Italian theaters until 1934. She also toured Australia with a first-rate troupe composed of some of La Scala's leading singers. At the Teatro Colón she was heard between 1915 and 1940, creating the title part in the world première of Respighi's “Maria Egiziaca” in 1934, as well as several operas by Argentine composers. To a “Maestro”: “…Ho visto ieri a Palma ch’è arrivato l’altra notte e ripartì stamane per essere qui di nuovo il 27 corrente. Lui ha tutte le miglior intenzioni di portarmi ed io di andare ma sono scontenta del repertorio perché mi apre la Jenufa (nuova) l’altra soprano di Armida e una argentina – Io vorrei il Simon Boccanegra per essere a parità, in parte, di condizioni artistiche con le mie colleghe che vengono a colori (…) Quella sig.ra Helm che non ha mai cantato né Armida, invade il campo di tutte le altre pur di non lascaire posto per altre artiste e vuol cantare tutto. OPERA - STORCHIO Rosina (1876 - 1945) - Autograph letter signed Autograph letter signed, dated “Ronco di Ghiffa – Monastero delle Benedettine – 6 Luglio 1931” by the Italian coloratura soprano who starred in the world premieres of operas by Puccini, Leoncavallo, Mascagni and Giordano. She created the roles of Mimì in “La bohème” (1897) and Zazà (1900) by Leoncavallo, Stephana in “Siberia” (1903) by Giordano, Cio-Cio San in “Madama Butterfly” (1904) by Puccini and “Lodoletta” (1917) by Mascagni. To the dramatist Giovanni Cenzato: “…Ho avuta quassù dove mi sono rifugiata, per un po’ di riposo, lontana dal lirico teatro, ma fra mezzo di canti liturgici di queste suore che con le loro dolci vocine rapiscono l’animo, ho ricevuto la sua gradita lettera (…) Io mi interesserò presso la Signorina Colombo, e il Maestro Giordano per il lavoro del nostro stimatissimo Maestro Menegazzoli onde potesse essere preso in vera considerazione…”. 2 pp. In-4. - This item is under temporary import.
