Radical democratic revolutionary, communist and social democratic politician, one of the founding fathers of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (1826-1900). Business card with autograph note on the back. Note on the back with the address "Robert Schweichel, 20 Großbeerenstr. Berlin!" On the front of the card hs. Note "12.IV.75 erledigt" in the hand of the parliamentarian Ernst Lieber (1838-1902), from whose estate the card comes. - Wilhelm Liebknecht's visiting cards are extremely rare; the only one that the owner of this card could prove is in the "International Institute of Social History" in Amsterdam and is undated. Complete collection of this ultra-royalist journal, whose contributors included Chateaubriand, Bonald, Castelbajac, Lamennais, Fiévrée, Salaberry, etc., and which denounced the policies of the governments of Duplessis-Richelieu, then Élie Decazes, accused of defending revolutionary interests, thus jeopardizing the Charter of 1814. In his Mémoires, Chateaubriand recalls the unprecedented influence of the journal, which ceased publication in 1820 to protest against the proposed censorship of the press. A fine copy.
