On a picture postcard to the art historian a. museum director Hans Friedrich Secker in Cologne: "Today I am in Vienna for a week and have a lot of it. Of the private collections, Mr. v. Auspitz's is particularly outstanding. Yesterday I found a delightful Zick with a false Mengs signature presented as Mengs by Count Harrach...". - Cohen helped prepare the Sonderbund exhibition of 1912, founded the Young Rhineland with Otto Dix and Max Ernst and was curator at the Düsseldorf Municipal Art Collection from 1914-1933. He was murdered in the Dachau concentration camp in 1942. D

Die Komposition steht in Verbindung mit der im gleichen Jahr in einer Auflage von 10 Exemplaren erschienen Lithographie des Künstlers "Das verlorene Gesicht". - Im unteren rechten Rand mit wenige kleinen Braunflecken. Sehr gut erhaltene, schwungvolle Komposition mit eindrücklichem Titel (zu dt.: "Welche Welt der Mörder"). Pencil drawing on handmade paper. With signed and dated autograph dedication of the artist to Walter Jens (1923-2013). Jens was a writer and critic as well as president of the PEN Centre and the Academy of Arts in Berlin. The composition is connected with the artist's lithograph "Das verlorene Gesicht", published in the same year in an edition of 10 copies. - At lower right margin with a few small brown spots.
