Second folio edition (the 3rd in total) of Stumpf's great Swiss Chronicle, edited by his son and continued until 1586. - "Stumpff's work is one of the most important linguistic monuments of Switzerland in the 16th century. He shows the transition from the Alemannic dialect to the New High German written language. What particularly distinguishes St.'s work are the excellent maps, which he drew himself. The book is representative of the histor. The book is representative of the historical knowledge of the time. Until the 18th century (it) enjoyed an almost canonical reputation" (Feller-B.). - Marginal tears in places (partly repaired), the first 6 leaves damaged, browned and somewhat stained throughout.
