Rudolf Köselitz, Geschwister im Garten A pair of siblings playing in a flower meadow, under lush green trees in bright sunlight, mixed media (watercolour and opaque colours) on light cardboard, signed and inscribed "R. Köselitz Mchn." lower right and dated "1920" in pencil, two backed tears to the lower edge of the sheet, mounted under passepartout, sheet dimensions approx. 50 x 35 cm. Artist info: German painter and draughtsman. Painter and draughtsman (1861 Annaberg - 1948 Munich), 1877-81 studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Leipzig, 1881 travelled to Venice, 1881-86 studied at the Academy in Munich under Otto Seitz, Gyula Benczur and Alexander Strähuber, from 1886 based in Dresden and worked as an illustrator, 1900 moved to Munich, from 1901 represented at all major art exhibitions in the Glaspalast, in the same year, the painting "Inneres eines Hammerwerkes" (Frohnauer Hammer bei Annaberg) by Rudolf Köselitz was presented in the Nationalgalerie Berlin alongside the painting "Eisenwalzwerk" by Adolph von Menzel, 1904 founding member of the Verein Münchner Aquarellisten, 1910 moved to the Munich suburb of Altfreimann, from the mid-1930s increasing impoverishment, source: Thieme-Becker, Matrikel der Münchner Akademie, Peter Rochhaus "Kurz vor dem Vergessen - Zu Leben und Werk des Malers und Illustrators Rudolf Köselitz" and Wikipedia.

Franz Frankl, Winterliche Flusslandschaft atmospheric snowy winter landscape with a quietly flowing river in the warm light of the evening sun, oil on panel, 1st half 20th century, signed lower right "Franz Frankl" and inscribed "München", somewhat in need of cleaning, in a splendid gilt stucco frame of the period, this with minor bumping, folded dimensions approx. 61 x 76 cm. Artist information: actually Franz Xaver Frankl, German landscape painter and graphic artist. Landscape painter and graphic artist (1881 Affecking - 1940 Munich), initially trained as a graphic artist, studied at the Stuttgart Academy, later at the Strasbourg School of Applied Arts, further training in Paris and Metz, exhibited at the Munich Kunstverein from 1907, later the exhibitions of the Münchner Künstlergenossenschaft and in 1937 and 1938 the Große Deutsche Kunstausstellung in the Haus der Deutschen Kunst in Munich, member of the Reichsverband Bildender Künstler Deutschlands, the Allgemeine Deutsche Kunstgenossenschaft, the Münchner Künstlervereinigung "Der Bund" and the Münchner Künstlergenossenschaft, active in Munich, source: Vollmer, Dressler and Internet.
