Jack Reppert von Bismarck, Alpenländische Impression Flowering meadow with field path, partly merging into forest, at the end of which harvest people are indicated as staffage, in the spatial background, but nevertheless effectively staged by the painter as the centre of the picture, looming mountain massif in the warm orange of the evening sun, impasto landscape painting with broad, characterful, impressionistic brushstroke, oil on canvas, 1st half 20th cent, signed lower right "v. Reppert-Bismarck.", restorations to the canvas, craquelure and retouches, in a beautiful, bronzed contemporary frame, folding dimensions approx. 50 x 63 cm. Artist information: actually Else Mayer (1903 Berlin - 1971 Herkenrath near Cologne), German painter and great-granddaughter. German painter and great-granddaughter of Otto von Bismarck, in the 1920s she achieved fame as a painter and "It-Girl" in the Weimar Republic, at the same time moved to England and New York, in 1931 exhibitions in the Balzac-Gallerys in New York, worked as an illustrator for art magazines, married to the painter Jörg Yorck Friederich Karl Bernhard von Reppert-Bismarck, source: Wikipedia.
