Expanded second edition; the first edition was published in 1816 with 14 pp. and only 2 copper plates. - L. Rosa, a mechanic and scale maker in Milan since 1791, describes here his new weighbridge, which was to replace the weighbridge by Charles Merlin from Strasbourg in northern Italy. C. Merlin applied for a patent for his scales in 1803 (see K. E. Haeberle: 10,000 Jahre Waage. p. 136 ff.). - A description of the balance (pp. 3-10) is followed by three appendices: 1.
