Die Arbeit besteht aus 10 s/w Abb. nach Photographien und 10 gegenübergestellten Textblättern mit Parabeln, die Baldessari seit 1967 verfasst hatte. John Barrow, who had taken part in Lord Macartney's embassy to China, published this interesting description of the countries visited during the voyage in 1806: Madeira, the Canaries, Rio de Janeiro, the Cape of Good Hope, Batavia... It includes an important account of a voyage to the Boushouanas, describing a region of South Africa as yet unknown, as well as a description of the island of Java and Cochinchina (southern Vietnam), for which this is the first illustrated account.
