The Bacchae. Mchn. 1923. 4°. With 6 lithographs by K. Werth. 72 p., 2 pp. Oprgt. over 5 bands, gilt-stamped spine label, front cover with large gilt-stamped publisher's signet. Gold chipping at head. Binding somewhat upright. Münchner Drucke, I. - Rodenberg 437 - No. 9 of 10 copies of the special edition (GA 200), signed by the artist in the printer's note. - Kurt Werth (1896-1983) studied at the Leipzig Academy of Art and after graduating worked as an illustrator and caricaturist, first in Munich and later in Berlin. In 1939 he emigrated with his wife to the USA, where he was honored several times for his work as an illustrator until the 1970s. - Dustwrapper and title with small stain. Untrimmed.
