Im letzten Drittel des Werkes findet sich ein umfangreicher Beitrag des Astronomen John Picard über die Vermessung der Erde der von zahlreichen Tafeln ergänzt wird. - Buchblock angebrochen. Nur sehr vereinzelt minimal fleckig. Insgesamt sehr sauberes Exemplar. With engraved frontispiece and 35 engraved plates. Cont. leather with blindstamped corner fleurons and ilt spien label (slightly rubbed, scuffed and bumped, front joint with light crack). - With bookplate of the Earl of Hopetoun. - Second Engl. edition. - Extensive study about various species. The large-sized and impressive plates show the exterior and interior of various animals. In the last third of the book there is a considerably contribution by the astronomer John Picard about the typographical survey of the earth which is supplemented by numerous plates. C. Lewis". In the publisher's address with the date. - Contains: see above. From the volume "A selection of twenty of the most picturesque views in Paris, and its environs" published by Girtin in London in 1803. - Light margins under the passepartout. Sheet Pont Neuf with recto not visible folding in upper white margin. Very few spots with brownish stains. Overall in good condition.
