Faience ushebti with hieroglyphics. Late period, ca. 26th dynasty, 664 - 525 BC. H 15.9 cm. Turquoise faience. Mummy-shaped with back pillar, three-part wig, beard and hoe and plow in crossed hands. Seven-line inscription to the lower section. Intact. Provenance: Ex collection Dr. Karl von Seeger, acquired before 1970.

Bronze bangle. Yoruba, Nigeria. ø 8.5 cm. Presumably for the Ogboni secret society from the Ijebu region, decorated with four heads that merge into human hands with appendages and probably signify a reversal of the mudfish-leg motif that originally originated in Benin and spread from there to the surrounding ethnic groups. According to oral tradition, Oba Ohen's legs, who lived in the 14th or 15th century, were paralyzed after an intercourse he had with the wife of a chief. The weavers (who were also healers) then wrapped his legs thickly with cloth, which also served as a camouflage for his ailment. The weavers were then given the status of a special guild (owina n'ido), who in turn also used the mudfish motif in their fabrics (inv. no. 075). Gray-green patina with remnants of verdigris, intact. Provenance: Ex Coll. Mareidi and Gert Stoll, Munich, inv. no. 075.

Small defects on the spine (wetness, a small lack of vellum) otherwise a good copy. Small wormholes in the margins of about forty leaves, not serious or missing text). Otherwise in very good condition. "Attributed to John of Milan, a physician who probably never even existed, a set of precepts of hygiene and care, compiled by the School of Salerno around the 2nd half of the 13th century, in the form of a Latin poem in 364 Leonine verses". First edition. "This version, compiled by Zacharias Sylvius (1608-1664), was first published by Arnold Leers in 1649."

Ushebti overseer of the High Priest "Ramses Nocturnal". Ancient Egypt, New Kingdom, dynasty XX, 1189-1077 BC. Earthenware. Good condition. With small hole on the reverse, surface rubbed in some parts. Provenance: Ex K.R. collection, Rhineland-Palatinate. In Germany since before 1992. Invoiced by Roswitha Eberwein, Göttingen, 1992; Auction, December 2022, Germany. Measurements: 12.8 cm. She wears a three-piece wig and kilt, arms crossed in front of the chest. The ushebti wears a "wesekh" necklace on the chest, the hoe and seed basket are missing. The vertical hieroglyphic inscription names the "Night of Ramses". Ramses Night was a former Egyptian high priest of Amun under Ramses IV to Ramses IX. He was the son of the chief administrator Meribastet I and successor of Usermaatrenacht, who may have been the brother of Ramesesnacht.
