Roman transport amphora for wine of the Dressel 2-4 type, west coast of Italy, ca. 65 BC - 1st century AD. H 103.5 cm and with stand 105.5 cm. Light brown clay. Very interesting dipinto in cursive Latin on the shoulder, perhaps AM [...] Medno. With a very distinctive stand and with correspondence from the gallery from 1974! Cleaned and reassembled from large fragments, tiny chips to the broken edges. Provenance: Ex collection Erik Kahlmeyer, Munich, acquired in 1974 from the Antiken-Galerie am Isartor, Munich.
