Some light foxing, margins of pages 264-266 slightly browned, tears not missing on pages 283-284. Ex-libris Château de la Fortelle.

Title and 20 lithographs depicting audiences at the Italian opera, the Comédie-Française, the Jardin des plantes, the Théâtre de Guignol, the circus, the boule players, the amphitheater at the École de médecine, etc. Worn and soiled cover, white wetness at bottom corner of plates, small scattered foxing. A rare and beautiful suite in which Doré "draws us in with the abundant playfulness of his verve, and [...] with a very fair, very witty and at the same time measured observation" (Leblanc p. 90.)
