Almanach. Goettinger Taschen-Calender vom Jahr 1776. Gôttingen, Dietrich, [1755]. In-16 (9.9 x 6.3 mm) of 29 ff. n. ch., 95 pp. mal ch. 97, 148 pp. half-brown basane with corners, spine with 4 nerves, title-piece and pastille with fawn date, book-box in Lavallière sow skin decorated with a cold fillet in frame (period binding, box by Virginie Fonlupt). Rare first year of this German almanac. The illustration includes an engraved title, an engraved intaglio plate depicting "two women in the new fashion", 2 plates of "hairstyles for the year 1775" and 12 out-of-text figures depicting the different peoples of the world: the European, the Circassian, the American, the Chinese, the inhabitant of the Land of Fire, the black albino, etc., with captions in German and French. The almanac contains a calendar for the year 1776, a genealogy of Europe's major personalities, and demographic, anthropological and chronological data, etc. Spine worn, corners and hinges restored, copy trimmed short, rare foxing, otherwise a good copy preserved in a sow-skin book-box.

Brittany - PITRE-CHEVALIER (Pierre Michel François). Ancient and modern Brittany. Paris, Coquebert, sd [1844]. In-4, red chagrin, smooth spine and boards richly decorated with the arms of Brittany and the portrait of Anne de Bertagne in medallion, gilt roulette on the edges and inside, gilt edges (period binding signed by Lenègre). First edition illustrated with a frontispiece featuring the arms of Brittany, a portrait of Chateaubriand, 21 steel engravings and 12 woodcuts of costumes in black, a plate of coins, 6 plates of coats of arms in chromolithography, 2 color maps, and nearly 200 woodcuts of in-text figures. A very fine copy, preserved here in a rare full contemporary binding signed by Lenègre. Some scattered foxing to the text, preserving the engravings.
