PLURIPARTIC ICON, 19th cent. Egg tempera on panel, 44.5x37.5 cm. Recognizable in the upper band are St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, Christ Pantocrator, and Our Lady of Tenderness; in the lower center is the Presentation of the Virgin in the Temple, framed by four other scenes in which can be recognized in the upper left corner the standing Madonna with the child and the afflicted at her feet (the Joy of the Afflicted); below St. Luke the Evangelist with book in hand; to the upper right is the Beheading of St. John the Baptist; and below St. Matthew the Evangelist. More difficult to read are the two figures placed in the plume, presumably two saints to whom the patron was particularly devoted
