These letters "concern the Mediterranean Levant, the entire East and Far East of Asia, Ethiopia in Africa, South and Central America, Canada and Illinois. In their reports and letters, the Fathers, after recounting the journey, apply themselves to satisfying the requests of their superiors in Europe, i.e. to give complete information on the most varied matters: state of the missions, life of the missionaries, facilities or difficulties of propaganda, often persecutions, customs of the inhabitants, geographical discoveries and resources of the countries, military and political events, relations with the governments, such are the main subjects dealt with in these writings whose usefulness cannot be overlooked, especially in the absence of documents of any kind."
