Leaf, 276 (instead of 277) fol. leaf, 1 leaf. (without fol. 5; numerous foliation errors; quire count: *8, A1-4 and 6-8, B-Z8, a-l8, m6). With 1 title border cut from a stick, 2 astronomical woodcuts and 49 biblical woodcuts as well as a number of woodcut initials. Modern half pigskin binding (signed Hedberg) with gilt-stamped spine title. VD16 L-4109 Benzing, Luther 1306 The German "Betbüchlin" is one of Luther's most popular works. It appeared in more than 40 German and Low German editions and several Latin editions, and was first printed in 1522. Over the years, it was repeatedly expanded, and this is the last German edition published during Luther's lifetime. Copy trimmed narrowly at the top, the title also trimmed narrowly at the side (the border trimmed). Of the 50 illustrations to the Passional that are usually printed, the healing of the blind man is missing here. One leaf is missing, namely leaf A5 with the calendar page for the "Christmas month" (December). In contrast to the Munich copy (digital copy), the title is printed here in black only and not in black and red, and the back of the title page is blank. Foxing throughout. Stamp on the title page. Longer ownership inscription by Baron Per Hierta dated 1906 and by Otto Smith dated 1911 on flyleaf.
