Leaf, 450 fol. leaves (incorrectly foliated 458; numbering of quires: *12, A-Z12, AA-OO12, PP6). With portrait before the Vita at the beginning, a small woodcut at the beginning of each giornata and two printer's marks. Flexible vellum binding with continuous bands and handwritten spine title. (Somewhat stained; without the clasps). Edit 16 CNCE 6320 (with only 5 library references in Italy). Cat. Hoepli, Bibliothèque Joseph Martini II, 1935, no. 31 : " Jolie et rare édition ". Vide gamba no. 175 (note). Not in Adams. Published at the same time as a quarto edition, dedicated by Giolito to "Delphina di Francia", that is Catharina de' Medici. Edited by Antonio Bruccioli; which competed with the edition published simultaneously by Ludovico Dolce and Girolamo Ruscelli at Valgrisi. Some dampstaining and spotting throughout. Ownership inscription by Baron Per Hierta on the flyleaf dated 1896.
