Attributed to Joseph SAVINA (Douarnenez, 1901 - Tréguier, 1983). CHAIR in patinated oak, original removable seat in imitation leather. Height: 90 cm. Length : 44 cm. Depth : 42 cm. Joseph SAVINA, Meilleur Ouvrier de France, member of the Ar Seiz Breur movement, close collaborator of René-Yves Creston and architects James Bouillé, Roger Le Flanchec and, of course, Le Corbusier. He opened his Atelier d'Art Celtique in Tréguier in 1929. This chair is related to the work of "Strollad an Droellen", the Atelier Breton d'Art Christian, founded by James Bouillé in 1929.

Joseph SAVINA (1901-1983) Seiz Breur armchair Solid oak and chestnut, carved and patinated with walnut stain. The central medallion of the backrest is carved with neo-Bardic motifs and framed by four bars forming a radiating pattern. Incised broken lines on the belt. Original leather seat. Tréguier, Atelier d'Art Celtique, circa 1928-1930. Height 85cm x Width 55cm x Depth 53cm Joseph Savina, a young designer, discovered the work of Jeanne Malivel, probably without ever having met her, and certainly after her death. It was a revelation, as evidenced by the palpable influence of the Seiz Breur founder on our chair. The Musée des Beaux-Arts de Brest holds a preparatory watercolour drawing of our armchair in its Joseph Savina archive. To date, only two other examples are known to exist: one at the Wolfsonian-FIU in Miami, the other in a private collection in Brittany. Joseph SAVINA (1901-1983) Panthers Large direct-cut sculpture in solid ebony Signed on the base J.Savina Tréguier, Atelier d'Art Celtique, circa 1935 Length 79 cm x Height 18 cm x Width 18 cm Although ebony is a favorite wood of Joseph Savina's, the animal theme here, in pure Art Deco style, is rare in his work. On our impressive sculpture, the artist's gouge marks contrast with the roundness of the felines.
